The main task in this kind of project is to optimize the organization of pedestrian flows, improve the efficiency of entrance groups, and exclude conflict zones between pedestrians and traffic.
Simulation of passenger flows in the Olympic Park in Sochi, XXII Winter Olympic Games 2014
As part of the project, SIMETRA engineers create a simulation model to evaluate the layout and design features of the facility or area. As a result of the analysis of different scenarios, our experts suggest an optimal variant to reduce waiting times at the entrance area.
Based on the created multimodal transport macro model and matrices of movements of client groups, a dynamic redistribution of passenger traffic for each day of the event is performed. Considering the capacity of public transport routes, our specialists calculate a forecast of passenger traffic flow and develop proposals for the optimization of public transport routes and intervals on them.
Routes and intervals of public transport
As part of the development of the master plan on the developed transport model, the evacuation scenario is being simulated along with solutions for the organization of the evacuation of participants in case of emergencies. In the end, all evacuation schemes and scenarios are checked according to the required standards.
Confirmation of evacuation time
The simulation of emergencies allows to identify bottlenecks and reveal places of the high load of public transport. As a result, our engineers offer recommendations for increasing the capacity of rolling stock on routes passing through bottlenecks.
